The Lagos Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for its disparagement of President Bola Tinubu’s selection of Muhammad Babangida, son of former military President Ibrahim Babangida, commonly known as IBB, as the new Chairperson of the reorganized Bank of Agriculture (BOA), along with various other appointments within Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
The Lagos APC labeled the ADC’s rebuke as an ill-informed commentary aimed at undermining a clearly meritocratic and inclusive appointment process.
The spokesperson for Lagos APC, Seye Oladejo, stated in a communiqué shared with Rocketparrot News on Saturday that the appointments made by the Tinubu administration since taking office demonstrate a committed effort towards competency, regional equity, and institutional reform.
Oladejo urged Nigerians to disregard the ADC’s criticism, branding the opposition party’s assertions as malicious and indicative of its enduring tradition of political irrelevance disguised as hollow indignation.
He remarked: “From skilled professionals and reform advocates to experienced leaders, every appointment made under his guidance reflects Nigeria’s diversity and the imperative of national renewal. “
In contrast to the ADC—which has failed to transition from a platform of recycled slogans to a body of substantial policy alternatives, President Tinubu and the APC concentrate on nation-building rather than superficial appearances.
“The makeup of his cabinet and key agency leadership features individuals with proven track records in both public and private spheres—those capable of achieving results in these critical times.
“It is laughable that the ADC, a party with minimal electoral influence and lacking genuine governance experience at both federal and state levels, would presume to advise the President of the Federal Republic on leadership.
“We challenge the ADC to identify a single state, local government, or constituency that it governs where its purported “inclusive” model has yielded concrete outcomes.
“Constructive criticism is welcomed in any democracy, but the ADC's language reeks of political desperation rather than genuine national concern. President Tinubu’s administration remains committed to engaging all Nigerians, irrespective of party affiliation, ethnicity, or religion, in the endeavor to restore public trust in the government and revitalize the economy.
“The Lagos APC fully supports the President’s choices and implores Nigerians to prioritize performance over propaganda.
“The true measure of appointments lies not in the backgrounds of appointees but in their actions in public service. On that count, we are confident in the administration’s trajectory and vision.
“The Lagos APC urges the ADC to elevate its discourse if it seeks to be taken seriously and to avoid the temptation of exploiting ethnicity, cynicism, or political animosity at times that require unity and competence.”
