LAGOS, Nigeria - The newly elected Chairperson of the Lagos State Chapter of the Association of Women Town Planners in Nigeria (AWTPN), TPL Yemisi Olayinka Alaka, has committed to diligently advocating for the interests of members and enhancing the association’s influence.
Alaka expressed this dedication during her acceptance address at her investiture as the chapter's 3rd Chairperson, which took place this week alongside the inauguration of other new executive council members.
“With everyone's collaboration, I pledge, as chairperson, to advance professional development and capacity building for our members,” she stated.
In her outlined five-point agenda, Alaka highlighted the importance of professional development and capacity building, advocating for inclusive policies and initiatives that encourage women's involvement in town planning, and fostering partnerships and collaboration with government bodies, the private sector, academia, civil society, and other stakeholders.
She also vowed to uphold transparency, accountability, and good governance within the association while promoting professionalism and inclusivity as foundational principles.
“I invite all members to join me and my team in this endeavor. Please feel free to share your ideas, expertise, and passion with us,” she concluded.
