The Delta Police Command reports that six kidnapping suspects have been eliminated in the state.
The command's spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, shared this information during a news conference in Warri on Tuesday.
He stated that the suspects were taken out on Wednesday during an operation targeted at their hideout along the Ughelli-Patani Expressway.
According to the command spokesman, Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), conducted a sting operation that led to the raid near the Unenurhei Community along the expressway.
He noted, "On July 9, the CP-SAT conducted a raid at the suspects' hideout near the Unenurhei axis on the Ughelli-Patani Expressway."
He added that during the operation, the heavily armed suspects exchanged gunfire with the police team.
"As a result, the suspects suffered severe gunshot wounds. They were transported to the hospital, where six were pronounced dead and two are still undergoing treatment," said Edafe.
He also mentioned that four makeshift firearms and 19 live cartridges were seized from the suspects.
