AKWA IBOM, Nigeria - The federal government has called on members of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to renew their commitment to the goals of the government and the Nigerian populace by adhering to the principles of transparency and fairness in their responsibilities.
Vice President Kashim Shettima made this statement on Monday while delivering his keynote address to inaugurate the 2025 retreat for new RMAFC members in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom state.
In his speech, delivered by his Technical Adviser on Public Debt Management and Revenue Mobilisation, Ibrahim Natagwandu, Shettima praised the RMAFC leadership for organizing the retreat, calling it timely, strategic, and aligned with the current administration’s vision for fiscal responsibility, equity, and sustainable progress.
He stated, “I assure you that this administration acknowledges these efforts and is committed to backing initiatives that allow the Commission to operate at its best.
“This retreat is not merely an orientation; it serves as a summons to national service during a period when our nation is experiencing significant reforms aimed at restructuring the economy and enhancing revenue generation through improved tax systems.
“The government remains resolute in its determination to transform the Nigerian economy through bold reforms aimed at alleviating poverty, drawing in investments, and establishing a conducive environment in which citizens can flourish and make meaningful contributions to national development.”
