Adeleke Orders Crack Down On Cultists In Osun

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has issued a directive for security agencies to launch special operations aimed at apprehending and prosecuting cult members involved in violent clashes throughout Ijeshaland. The state government's decision comes in response to the recent surge in violence and attacks that have plagued parts of the Ilesa township. These directives follow the tragic deaths of suspected cultists resulting from clashes between rival factions on both Sunday and Tuesday in Ilesa. These confrontations have left four individuals dead in their aftermath. In a statement issued by Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for Governor Adeleke, the governor expressed his shock and disapproval of these incidents. He called upon the Nigerian police and other law enforcement agencies to take decisive action in curbing the ongoing violence and clashes among rival cult groups. Furthermore, the governor has instructed that the special operations include comprehensive intelligence gathering to identify and apprehend the instigators of these violent attacks. He emphasized that all individuals found responsible for these acts would face the full weight of the law. “I have been duly briefed on the developments in some parts of Ijeshaland. We will no longer tolerate actions capable of disrupting the peaceful atmosphere in the state. We will not allow any group or individual to use their internal wars to endanger public peace. This is a matter that threatens law and order. We must enforce the law and ensure peace without delay. This is one violence too many. “I have directed the Commissioner of Police and other service chiefs to swing into action without delay. Violence and attacks must stop, and perpetrators must be brought to book as urgently as possible,” the governor instructed.
