The Chinese Counselor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shen Sha, has reiterated China's strong dedication to enhancing its longstanding relationship with Africa.

He made this statement during the ongoing African Think Tank and Media Workshop hosted by the International Department of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee in Beijing.

Shen pointed out that the historical ties between China and Africa date back over eighty years.

"China’s involvement with Africa began in the eighth century when Chinese explorers set sail to the continent, establishing a foundation for lasting cultural and trade connections."

He emphasized that China prioritizes unity and cooperation with African nations as a fundamental aspect of its foreign policy. Additionally, he affirmed that China remains committed to supporting Africa's development goals.

"We support the principles for a strong and harmonious East Africa and are committed to aligning Chinese interests with those of the African people. While China’s growth and international standing may change, our dedication to fostering partnerships with Africa is unwavering," he stated.

The counselor also mentioned that China is prepared to advocate for the rights of African countries on the global stage, promoting fair and inclusive international policies that protect the interests of developing nations.

He promised continued support for Africa’s self-reliant initiatives, peace-building efforts, and governance practices tailored to the needs of African contexts. "We envision a future where China and Africa progress together, sharing opportunities for development and mutual prosperity.

China’s steadfast support for Africa's advancement is unyielding, and we are ready to provide assistance within our capacity," he remarked.

Shen further highlighted the significant increase in trade and investment between China and Africa, noting China's position as Africa’s largest trading partner for the 16th consecutive year.

"Importantly, Chinese investments have driven economic growth and job creation throughout Africa, reflecting President Xi Jinping’s personal commitment to fostering China-Africa relations.

China's promise of sustained engagement includes expanding investment cooperation, enhancing agricultural and manufacturing partnerships, and empowering African nations to leverage their resources for sustainable growth," he said.

Head of the African delegation and a member of South Africa's African National Congress (ANC), Lindiwe Zulu, expressed gratitude to China for its unwavering support for Africa's development.

Zulu highlighted the importance of equitable partnerships and African unity as essential elements for prosperity.

She expressed hope that China would continue to regard Africa as an equal and valued partner, paving the way for shared achievements and lasting friendship.

Rocketparrot News learnt that the delegation includes 20 representatives from various African think tanks and media agencies from countries such as Nigeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Ghana, among others.
