Award-winning Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as, Davido, couldn’t hold back tears as his longtime manager and childhood friend, Asa Asika, tied the knot with his partner, Leona, in a ceremony that held many guests spellbound.
The emotional moment happened on Saturday and was shared across social media, but it was Davido’s touching tribute posted on X (formerly Twitter) that got fans talking.
In his words, Davido described the wedding as a deeply personal milestone, not just for Asa, but for their entire journey.
“Asa, today shattered me… in the most beautiful way. Seeing you stand beside Leona, with peace in your eyes and love in your heart, I couldn’t hold it in. Not just because of the man you’ve become, but because of how you became him. Nothing was handed to us. We built this, through fire, through faith, through a bond that never broke.”
Davido praised Leona for bringing love and stability into Asa’s life, noting that she gave meaning to the journey they all started together years ago.
“Leona… thank you. For loving him the way we all hoped someone would. You didn’t just join the journey, you became its purpose. You brought him home to himself.”
He also made a promise to protect their union, describing the wedding as a symbol of loyalty, resilience, and legacy.
“I promise, as long as I breathe, I’ll protect what you two have built. This wedding… it’s not just love. It’s legacy. It’s proof that we can rise without losing our souls. That brotherhood can survive success. That culture can be kept, not just worn.”
Closing the message, Davido said the moment meant more to him than any global award.
