EDO, Nigeria - The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, has provided reasons for his switch from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasizing that the move aims to secure the advantages associated with his speakership role.
He clarified that his decision was not motivated by personal interests but rather aimed at fostering the development and progress of his constituency.
During a plenary session on Wednesday, Agbebaku officially announced his defection to the APC, stating, “As a speaker, if I abandon this position for the sake of the party, I would be neglecting my duty to enhance the development in my area.”
He added that his constituents supported his choice due to ongoing development projects in Owan West initiated by Governor Monday Okpebholo.
“Based on that, I made my decision, and I believe my constituents are largely pleased with it.”
