The University of Lagos has refuted online claims regarding the delay in the reimbursement of NELFund loans to students who paid their mandatory fees before the university received the funds.
The Head of the Communication Unit, Mrs. Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, clarified this in a statement on Thursday.
She noted, "Refunds are generally processed following reconciliation and verification with NELFund.
To date, the university has received three installments of NELFund loans, and beneficiaries from the first two batches have been successfully repaid.
As for the third batch, which was received at the end of April, we are in the process of compiling and reconciling students' payment information."
Alaga-Ibraheem assured that all refunds would be handled in accordance with regulations.
"The university management is dedicated to its key principles of transparency, accountability, and a focus on student service delivery.
We encourage our students to utilize the NELFund loan option and to reach out to the NELFund help desk at the Student Affairs Division for any assistance and to address any concerns," she stated.
