The Federal Government has called on tertiary institutions to allow students who have applied for the student loan program to take their exams without limitations.
This comes as a committee has been established to refine the student loan processes.
The committee aims to standardize the terms used for charges, outline a timeline for the disbursement of institutional loans from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), and specify when universities and other institutions will announce their disbursements.
During a briefing with reporters in Abuja on Wednesday after a meeting with NELFUND, Vice-Chancellors and leaders of tertiary institutions accused of mishandling student loan distributions, Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa mentioned that the committee has three weeks to present its findings.
The meeting included the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad; NELFUND Managing Director, Akintunde Sawyerr; and heads from beneficiary tertiary institutions.
