FOX59: Woman Fatally Shot Outside Event Center on Indianapolis East Side

INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was shot and killed Wednesday night outside an event center on the east side of Indianapolis, according to FOX59 News.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded around 9:30 p.m. to the 6400 block of Massachusetts Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found an adult female suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the shooting occurred outside an event center in the area. Police are actively searching for at least one suspect, described as an adult male who fled the scene. It remains unclear whether he escaped on foot or in a vehicle.

Multiple shell casings were found at the scene, with different calibers suggesting that more than one weapon may have been used in the incident.

IMPD is working to identify witnesses and is reviewing any available security footage from the event center. Police believe multiple people may have been present when the shooting happened.
