Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on all citizens and residents to unite in rebuilding the nation for growth and development of Lagos state.
Sanwo-Olu made this call during the Interdenominational Service organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs to mark the 64th National Independence Day Celebration with the theme: 'Rebuilders of Broken Foundations' held at the Chapel of Christ The Light, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the event by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Sam Egube, said the celebration was relevant, offering everyone an opportunity to contribute to rebuilding Lagos and Nigeria.
“We should not only focus on our rights but our responsibility that is when we can assist in the total rebuilding of our nation. We have embarked on transformative plans to boost our economy, creating opportunities for future growth for us all,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He also explained that adequate infrastructure could fuel economic growth and secure the community.
Delivering his sermon at the event, Bishop Jeremiah Adeyemi of CMAG International Ministry based his sermon on the theme 'The Builders Will Rebuild Broken Foundations,' referencing Isaiah 58:12 and Zechariah 1:18.
Bishop Adeyemi called on Lagosians and Nigerians to humble themselves through prayer, unity, and focus, declaring, “By this time tomorrow, a shower of blessings shall reign on Nigeria, and our story will change for the better.”
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode, promised that the state government would ensure citizens enjoy the dividends of democracy through various people-oriented initiatives aligned with the ministry’s mandate.
