On Wednesday, the Nasarawa State Labour Party and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party joined forces in an effort to unseat the state's incumbent All Progressive Congress in the state's governorship election on March 18, 2023.
The two political parties expressed their positions during a Wednesday joint stakeholders meeting in Lafia.
Alexander Emmanuel, the state's chairman of the labor party, said during the meeting that they were dedicated to making sure the PDP candidate for governor wins the election on Saturday.
He distanced himself from certain former Labour Party members' alleged backing of Governor Abdullahi Sule on Tuesday, branding them as "saboteurs who did not mean well for the party."
"We are hopeful that we will win the election because the incumbent governor has done nothing to improve the lives of state people since taking office on May 29, 2019.
"The people should turn out in large numbers and support the PDP candidate on Saturday because we believe in him and know that he is capable of improving Nasarawa State," Emmanuel concluded.
Francis Orogu, the PDP chairman for Nasarawa State, thanked the state's Labour Party leadership for supporting David Ombugadu, the party's candidate for governor, and vowed that Ombugadu would not let down the people of the state if he were to win the election.
The LP State Zonal Chairman for the Southern Zone, Isa Adamu, the LP Zonal Chairman for the Western Zone, Godwin Dogo, and the Chairman of the Northern Zone, Hakim Lukas, all made separate remarks during the stakeholders meeting.
They all expressed confidence that Ombugadu, the PDP's nominee for governor, will lead Nasarawa State to greater heights if elected.
