UPDATE: Tinubu Makes Changes To FEC Meeting's, confirm NPC  Commissioners

President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, authorized that  the Federal Executive Council meetings will now take place on Mondays, departing from the traditional Wednesdays.

He also officially inaugurated two additional commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC)-  Mr. Fasuwa Johnson, and Dr. Amid Tadese Raheem, representing Ogun and Osun States respectively.

Information Minister Mohammed Idris, said "So FEC meetings are now scheduled for Mondays.

However, this does not necessarily mean it will occur every week. If there are no pressing issues to discuss, it will be postponed to the following week."

▪︎ Johnson was born in 1973 in Ododeyo, located in the Ijebu North East area of Ogun State, where he completed his primary and secondary education. 

He obtained a Master of Science in Geography in 2004 from the University of Ibadan and a Master in Business Administration in 2009 from Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, Oyo State. In 2019, he was elected as a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Ijebu North East until June 2023. During his tenure, he served as the Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, among other roles.

▪︎ Raheem was born on December 12, 1964, in Iwo, Osun State.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Public Administration from the same university.

He had served as Commissioner for Water Resources & Energy in Osun State and was elected member of the Osun State House of Assembly, becoming its first Chief Whip in 1992. 

Prior to his nomination, Raheem held the position of Head of the Department of Public Administration at Fountain University in Osogbo, Osun State.

Following the inauguration ceremony, the council observed a moment of silence to pay tribute to two former cabinet members who had passed away, namely Prof. Fabian Osuji and Prof. Ogbonnaya Onu.

Osuji, aged 82, passed away on February 28, 2024, after serving as Minister of Education from July 2003 to March 2005 during the tenure of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Onu, who was the first civilian governor of Abia State (Jan. 1992 – Nov. 1993), later served as the minister of science, technology, and innovation during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. He passed away on April 11, 2024, at the age of 72.
