AYOBO-IPAJA - Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sanctioned the appointment of Oladipupo Oluwaloni as the Acting Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA) due to the extended absence of the current chairman, Bolatito Shobowale.
Reports gathered by Rocketparrot News indicate that Shobowale has been away for over six months for health reasons, and attempts by specialists to hasten her return have not produced the expected outcomes, which has been a challenge for governance within the council.
The governor's decision, as sources reveal, was made to prevent the LCDA from falling into a financial crisis that was beginning to develop because the chairman had been unable to present the 2025 budget to the council lawmakers as required by law. Additionally, it came to light that the budget documents were being prepared without input from the Vice Chairman, and Shobowale had not officially handed over the council operations but instead delegated them to the Council-Manager.
Further insights disclosed that the governor's intervention was suggested by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure the completion of ongoing projects within the council without encountering financial challenges. To aid the council, the governor, through an official letter from the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, Bolaji Roberts, instructed Oluwaloni to take office immediately to facilitate the efficient administration of the council's affairs.
The leadership transition was orchestrated via the intervention of the Lagos State chapter of the APC, led by its chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi. This initiative seeks to uphold administrative stability and effective governance at the local level.
Following his appointment, Oluwaloni expressed profound gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu and the party leadership for their confidence in him. He vowed to work diligently, prioritizing the welfare of the residents of Ayobo-Ipaja and ensuring continuity in governance.
"This is a significant responsibility, and I am fully dedicated to maintaining the trust placed in me. My aim will be to ensure that governance at the grassroots is effective, responsive, and aligned with the developmental goals of our renowned state," stated Oluwaloni.
