The French football powerhouse, Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, has claimed its inaugural UEFA Champions League title after defeating Italian team Inter Milan 5-0 in the season final.
PSG ended a 55-year wait by showcasing an impressive display of attacking football, surprising many fans given the reputation of their opponents.
The match took place at the Allianz Arena, the home ground of Bayern Munich, on Saturday. PSG’s promising youngster, Desire Doue, shone brightly, leading his team to a historic victory.
At just 19 years old, he solidified his status as a rising star as Luis Enrique's squad concluded a remarkable campaign by achieving the largest victory margin in any Champions League or European Cup final.
Doue assisted Achraf Hakimi for a straightforward goal within the first 12 minutes and scored the second, benefiting from a deflection off Inter's Federico Dimarco eight minutes later.
Luis Enrique, now one of only six managers to win this tournament with two different clubs after his 2015 success with Barcelona, watched as his dynamic team dismantled Inter.
It was clear that PSG deserved their third goal, which came after 63 minutes, as Ousmane Dembele’s flick set up Vitinha, who then passed to Doue for a composed finish, making him just the third teenager to score in a Champions League final at 19 years and 362 days, following Patrick Kluivert in 1995 and Carlos Alberto in 2004.
PSG continued to dominate, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scoring to further humiliate Inter, prompting Luis Enrique to celebrate joyfully along the sidelines.
The pain continued for Inter, who had lost to Manchester City in the 2023 final. PSG substitute Senny Mayulu, also 19, made his mark by scoring the fifth goal just four minutes before the end.
